NEWS Monument Unveiled at Décor-1 PGW 'Omnipresent Life', a monument by the prominent sculptor G.Pototsky was unveiled at Décor-1 Peshelansky Gypsum Works on August 28. During the ceremony, V.S.Lavrov announced that 'Omnipresent Life' (also known as 'Combating Stereotypes') was a gift to the Company from the International Kindness Academy in recognition of an invaluable contribution to the development of Russia's cultural capital and economy. Busy preparations for the celebration began in the morning of August 28 with the installation of stands, tents, makeshift retail outlets, attractions, and stage platforms. Company employees and guests flocked to Shaktior stadium, the venue of the day’s main festivities. Victory as the Best Present On August 28, Peshelansky Gypsum Works celebrated the Miner’s Day. All day long, Shaktior stadium hosted various exhibitions, lotteries and draw games. Of course, the festivities could not do without a musical performance. Personnel Training for Gypsum Fiber Board Shop To prepare for the future production of gypsum fiber boards, an onsite training was organized for 27 of the Company employees at the Tambov-based Tamak Co., which manufactures cement fiber boards using a similar technology. Bornukovo stone-carving factory is located in a scenic site of the Buturlino district (Nizhniy Novgorod region) in the village of Bornukovo. For several generations, the village was well-known for its unique handicraft — Scythian-style stone carving. In the past, the local handicrafts were exported to 75 countries. Even during the WWII, the local carvers were granted exemption from active duty. Ornamental stone quarried in Bornukovo may come in a variety of colors: blue, reddish, brown, green, and rosy. Some time ago, Company management decided to revive the handicraft. On January 1, 2007, Bornukovo stone-carving factory was made a division of Décor-1 Peshelansky Gypsum Works LLC. With the opening of the Bornukovo Craftsmans House, stone carving was complemented by gold embroidery, patchwork handicrafts and the manufacture of floor mats using the traditional technology. The factory employees learn new professions: organization of excursion tours, tourist services and teaching handicraft master classes. The employees are especially proud of the factorys souvenir show-room. Its patchwork blankets, hand-woven floor mats, golden embroidery make the show-room especially colorful. Tourists spend hours watching the figurines of birds and animals, make photos. The articles made by the factorys chief artist I. V. Yevstifeev make the show-room look especially smart and classy. All these unique articles are featured in the picturesque product catalog published by Bornukovo factory.
