Gypsum wood fiber boards are a modern-day construction material for interior finishing works. In terms of quality, this eco-friendly, non-combustible hi-tech material is considerably superior to the widely-used plaster boards. Gypsum wood fiber board is a product currently going through the initial stage of its life-cycle — market penetration. Originally, the gypsum wood fiber board concept was developed in Germany. The panels, made of wood chips and gypsum-based binder were presented at a 1982 conference. In 1984, the right to manufacture these boards in Finland was acquired by SasmoX, which in 1985 became the world’s first company to manufacture gypsum wood fiber boards. Pretty soon, gypsum wood fiber board became a popular product in Europe.

Due to the popularity of this construction material with major Russian-based civil contractors, the Company management decided to organize its production at Peshelansky Gypsum Works. The latest process equipment from Germany has already been purchased. The facility, scheduled for commissioning in March 2010, will be Russia’s only manufacturer of gypsum wood fiber boards. The Company will supply this unique construction material to civil contractors both in Russia and abroad.

The best properties of gypsum and wood

Gypsum wood fiber boards are produced using the semi-dry method whereby a moist mix of gypsum binder and wood chips is placed on steel sheets, pressed and dried.

A gypsum wood fiber board has the following composition:
    Gypsum — 83%,
    Wood fiber (chips) — 15%,
    Moisture — 2%. As gypsum fiber boards do not contain any adhesives or asbestos, they are free from any harmful substances.
