Gypsum Blocks
  • Gypsum blocks are an ideal material for low-rise construction.
  • Gypsum blocks have a high sound reduction index (50 dB).
  • Using gypsum blocks for construction will save your time and considerably reduce your construction costs.

Gypsum blocks are used in accordance with the building regulations for self-supporting and cladding structures in residential, public, industrial and agricultural buildings, typically for low-rise construction.

Due to its unique physical and mechanical properties, gypsum block masonry is characterized by excellent airborne sound reduction index (50 dB) and thermal conductivity, an important factor to consider for both residential and industrial construction projects. While gypsum blocks are inferior to limestone bricks in terms of compression strength, they do have a number of advantages. Using gypsum blocks allows to considerably reduce construction period, labor intensity and costs (with a square meter of 40-cm thick gypsum masonry being 1.5 cheaper as compared to conventional brick masonry). By volume, one gypsum block is equal to seven bricks (with the dimensions being 250×120×65 mm). In terms of thermal conductivity (0.276 watt/mC°), gypsum blocks are also a better choice than bricks which have a thermal conductivity factor ranging from 0.46 to 0.7 watt/mC°. This difference is explained by the lower density of gypsum blocks (ranging from 900 to 1200 kg/cm3) as compared to 1450-1650 kg/cm3 for limestone bricks.
Due to these advantages, gypsum block masonry is more time- and cost-effective as compared to limestone brick masonry.
